The orchestra presents musical masterpieces to nourish the hearts\, souls and minds of local music patrons. \nMost members live in the Orlando area but we have regular members who come from as far afield as Jacksonville\, Tampa\, Daytona and St. Petersburg. The Philharmonic gives 13-15 concerts per year and so we don’t provide full time employment for any of the players. Our players are comprised of resident and international artists who collaborate with symphonic and operatic companies at large. Although most orchestra members are not Villagers\, there are two professional orchestra members who are Village residents and there are six amateurs who train each Saturday so that they can meet the standards required to play with the Philharmonic.

DESCRIPTION:The Mystical Arts of Tibet is a world tour endorsed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to promote world peace and healing by sharing Tibet’s rich and authentic sacred performing and visual arts with modern audiences.  The tours offer a rare opportunity to witness one of the world’s most ancient sacred traditions presented by a group of monk artists for whom these traditions are a way of life.\n\nFrom the first tour in 1988\, the Mystical Arts of Tibet tours by the Drepung Loseling monks have enjoyed an overwhelming reception across North and South America\, as well as in Europe.  Due to the timeless nature of these Tibetan arts\, and the spirit of universal values they inspire\, the tours continue to capture the imagination of the West.\n\nThe artists are monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery\, which has been re-established in exile in South India. The performers on The Mystical Arts of Tibet tour are not full-time professionals; rather they are genuine monks who are taking time off from their life-long devotion to contemplation and study to participate in the tour. These monk artists consider it an honor to be selected to represent their monastery and share their cultural traditions on the tour\, hoping that they will be able to make some small contribution toward world peace and toward greater awareness of the Tibetan situation. DESCRIPTION:What began as a fun way to work with her friends has exploded into a comedy brand of its own. When Carole Montgomery (a stand up comedy veteran of over 40 years) started in the business\, you would never see two female comics on the same show. Fast forward to today’s comedy scene and nothing has changed\, even though there are way more women in comedy.\n\nWOACA was created to give older women comics a chance to be seen and be heard. Frustrated by how women are portrayed in show business once they hit the age of 50\, Carole decided to do something about it. It was only a few years ago that she had the idea to create a show that would travel to different cities and showcase a rotating cast of older female comedians. In no time at all\, Carole’s idea become a Showtime special that made history and broke ratings records. It was Showtime’s highest rated premiere of a stand up show in 2019! Two more specials followed and a national tour is now being planned.\n\nThe women who appear in WOACA are all brilliant\, funny\, and vibrant – and it just so happens that they are all of a certain age. These are the women who paved the way – blazed the trail – for the female comedians you see performing today.
