SUMMARY:Gladys Knight
DESCRIPTION:The great ones endure\, and Gladys Knight has long been one of the greatest. Very few singers over the last sixty years have matched her unassailable artistry. This seven-time GRAMMY Award winner has enjoyed #1 hits in Pop\, Gospel\, R&B\, and Adult Contemporary\, and has triumphed in film\, television\, and live performance.\n\nAll told\, Knight has recorded more than 38 albums over the years\, including four solo albums: “Good Woman” (1991); “Just for You” (1994); the inspirational “Many Different Roads” (1999); and “At Last” (2001).  “At Last” showed the world that she still has what it takes to record a hit album\, employing the talents of contemporary producers like Randy Jackson.\n\nKnight has continued to spread her acting wings\, making a guest star appearance in the FOX hit show “Star” and appearing in the film “Almost Christmas” in 2016\, both which were produced and directed by Lee Daniels.  She appeared on ABC’s 14th season of “Dancing With The Stars” in 2012. In 2019\, she competed on the inaugural season of “The Masked Singer” and sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta.  Knight sang the National Anthem on yet another major sports stage at the 2021 NBA All-Star Game. This past 2022 holiday season she starred in “I’m Glad It’s Christmas” on Great American Family and received the 45th Kennedy Center Honors for Lifetime Artistic Achievements along with George Clooney\, Amy Grant\, Tania Leone and U2 in December.  In addition\, this past March she received the National Medal of Arts along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus\, Bruce Springsteen\, Jose Feliciano and Mindy Kaling.  This year she will be honored as a 2024 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree.\n\nHer involvement in other creative undertakings\, business ventures and humanitarian activities has been extensive\, and has brought her honors from industry and community alike. In 2015\, A portion of Atlanta’s State Route 9 from Peachtree Street to 14th Street was officially named Gladys Knight Highway.\n\n\nSponsored by Get Off The Bus tours

SUMMARY:Behind The Lines
DESCRIPTION:Created by internationally acclaimed jazz musician Dominick Farinacci and combat veteran Jaymes Poling\, Behind the Lines: a 9/11 Story is a live story\, music\, and theatre performance set against the tragedy of the September 11 attacks and the war that followed. World Trade Center firefighter Bill Spade—the sole survivor from FDNY Rescue Company 5—and Poling\, a three-tour Afghanistan combat veteran with the 82nd Airborne Division\, relive their experiences and find an unexpected bond in strength\, meaning\, and the weight of what they continue to carry after service.\n\nFarinacci—described by The New York Times as “a trumpeter of abundant poise who plays beautifully\, with expressive control and brings true musicality”—brings an international career shaped by Juilliard\, Jazz at Lincoln Center\, a TED Talk\, and award-winning recordings\, alongside a deep commitment to music and mental well-being. Poling brings a hard-earned firsthand perspective and a powerful ability to translate lived experience into meaning and purpose onstage. Spade—featured on CBS Sunday Morning and the BBC—brings audiences inside the lived reality of that day and the aftermath\, sharing what he lived through with rare clarity\, courage\, and gravity.\n\nThe music serves as the internal voice of the piece—deepening the narrative and revealing the humanity beneath the events. Performed live by a full ensemble led by Farinacci\, the score spans original compositions alongside reimagined works by Leonard Cohen\, Gnarls Barkley\, Tom Waits\, and more\, heard through the emotional lens of the story. The production unfolds in a cinematic world where light\, image\, and space translate feeling into color. Inspired by synesthesia\, the multimedia and lighting design maps each shift in Bill and Jaymes’ psychological states\, creating an immersive environment that elevates both the storytelling and the music.

SUMMARY:Messiah
DESCRIPTION:Based in Florida’s friendliest hometown\, “The Villages Philharmonic” is a professional Orchestra presenting the highest possible standard for excellence in musical performance since 2003. \nUnder the musical direction of acclaimed Conductor Pasquale Valerio\, the orchestra has grown in stature while enriching and shaping cultural life. The orchestra presents musical masterpieces to nourish the hearts\, souls and minds of local music patrons. \nMost members live in the Orlando area but we have regular members who come from as far afield as Jacksonville\, Tampa\, Daytona and St. Petersburg. The Philharmonic gives 13-15 concerts per year and so we don’t provide full time employment for any of the players. Our players are comprised of resident and international artists who collaborate with symphonic and operatic companies at large. Although most orchestra members are not Villagers\, there are two professional orchestra members who are Village residents and there are six amateurs who train each Saturday so that they can meet the standards required to play with the Philharmonic.

SUMMARY:The Mystical Arts of Tibet
DESCRIPTION:The Mystical Arts of Tibet is a world tour endorsed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to promote world peace and healing by sharing Tibet’s rich and authentic sacred performing and visual arts with modern audiences.  The tours offer a rare opportunity to witness one of the world’s most ancient sacred traditions presented by a group of monk artists for whom these traditions are a way of life.\n\nFrom the first tour in 1988\, the Mystical Arts of Tibet tours by the Drepung Loseling monks have enjoyed an overwhelming reception across North and South America\, as well as in Europe.  Due to the timeless nature of these Tibetan arts\, and the spirit of universal values they inspire\, the tours continue to capture the imagination of the West.\n\nThe artists are monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery\, which has been re-established in exile in South India. The performers on The Mystical Arts of Tibet tour are not full-time professionals; rather they are genuine monks who are taking time off from their life-long devotion to contemplation and study to participate in the tour. These monk artists consider it an honor to be selected to represent their monastery and share their cultural traditions on the tour\, hoping that they will be able to make some small contribution toward world peace and toward greater awareness of the Tibetan situation. At the end of each tour the monks return to Drepung Loseling Monastery to continue their vocation.\n\nLearn more about the International Subscription and SAVE! ➤

SUMMARY:Judy Collins
DESCRIPTION:Judy Collins has long inspired audiences with sublime vocals\, boldly vulnerable songwriting\, personal life triumphs\, and a firm commitment to social activism. In the 1960s\, she evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Six decades later\, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 55-album body of work\, and heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century. \nThe award-winning singer-songwriter is esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album\, Wildflowers\, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Judy’s dreamy and sweetly intimate version of “Send in the Clowns\,” a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical A Little Night Music\, won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. She’s garnered several top-ten hits gold- and platinum-selling albums. Recently\, contemporary and classic artists such as Rufus Wainwright\, Shawn Colvin\, Dolly Parton\, Joan Baez\, and Leonard Cohen honored her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins. \nIn 2026\, Collins bids adieu to the road with her “SWEET JUDY BLUE EYES” Farewell Tour\, launching July 4\, 2026 and running through 2027—an expansive final run across North America and beyond that gives audiences one last chance to experience her timeless voice and storytelling live. The tour follows a remarkable recent chapter: six new albums released since 2015\, the artistic renaissance of Spellbound (her first album of all self-penned songs\, nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2023 GRAMMY Awards)\, and her 2025 poetry collection Sometimes It’s Heaven: Poems of Love\, Loss and Redemption—a vivid extension of the honesty and grace that have defined her enduring legacy.

DESCRIPTION:This New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players production is your chance to get carried away by Pirates. Join the band of swashbuckling buccaneers\, bumbling British bobbies\, frolicsome Victorian maidens\, and the delightfully dotty “model of a modern Major-General” for a rollicking romp over the rocky coast of Cornwall. SUMMARY:Chanticleer
DESCRIPTION:Known around the world for its eclectic repertoire and dazzling virtuosity\, the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer – under the leadership of Music Director Tim Keeler – has been hailed by the Boston Globe as “breathtaking in its accuracy of intonation\, purity of blend\, of color and swagger of style.” Founded in San Francisco in 1978 by singer and musicologist Louis Botto\, Chanticleer quickly took its place as one of the most prolific recording and touring ensembles in the world\, an “orchestra of voices” performing thousands of live concerts and selling more than one million recordings. \nRooted in the Renaissance\, Chanticleer’s repertoire has expanded to include a wide range of classical\, gospel\, jazz and popular music\, and the group performs its beloved “A Chanticleer Christmas” program on tour every December. A new Christmas album\, Joy to the World\, will be released in Fall 2025. With a deep commitment to the commissioning of new compositions and arrangements\, Chanticleer foregrounds American repertoire and a distinctively American sound\, complementing the group’s signature diversity in terms of membership and genre. The ensemble has dedicated much of its vast recording catalogue to these commissions\, garnering Grammy Awards for its recordings of Sir John Tavener’s Lamentations & Praises and the ambitious collection of commissioned works entitled Colors of Love. Chanticleer’s 2002 album Our American Journey was inducted into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2025. The group is the recipient of Chorus America’s Dale Warland Commission Award and the Chorus America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. Chanticleer’s Music Director Emeritus\, Joseph H. Jennings\, received the Brazeal Wayne Dennard Award for his contribution to the African American choral tradition during his 25-year tenure as both singer and Music Director. \nChanticleer – named for the “clear-singing” rooster in Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales – was named Ensemble of the Year by Musical America in 2008 and inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame. The group’s award-winning education programs were recognized with the 2010 Chorus America Education Outreach Award\, and have engaged tens of thousands of students since the ensemble began.

SUMMARY:American Music: Celebration of Love
