With an irreverent book\, an astonishing set\, and a score that’s out of this Netherworld\, BEETLEJUICE is “SCREAMINGLY GOOD FUN!” (Variety). SUMMARY:Classic Meets Cool With Barron Ryan
DESCRIPTION:Barron Ryan’s love for music has always been divided. The son of two musicians\, he grew up in a house filled with the sounds of artists ranging from Chopin to Michael Jackson. So when it comes to his own performing\, he’s not content drawing on just one influence. He combines them all into a musical adventure that’s vintage yet fresh\, historical yet hip\, classic yet cool.\n\nAfter beginning piano lessons at age four with his father\, Barron seemed destined for a career in music. He excelled in performing throughout his middle and high school years in Tulsa then continued to impress his peers and instructors as a piano performance major at The University of Oklahoma.\n\nEverything did not come up roses.  Barron was rejected from all the music conservatories to which he applied. Disheartened\, he briefly gave up on the piano in pursuit of a satirical hip-hop career. However\, after winning the Oklahoma Israel Exchange Young Artist competition in 2011\, the hip-hop project was graciously short-lived.\n\nBarron found his artistic voice on the Israel concert tour. He discovered the joy of jazz and ragtime found on his debut album\, Classical with Attitude.  Learning from great jazz pianists by replaying their solos\, he pays homage to them on his latest album\, The Masters’ Apprentice. What’s next? Wait and see\, but rest assured in all Barron Ryan’s music\, Classic Meets Cool.

SUMMARY:Bad Co Legacy
DESCRIPTION:Bad Company enjoyed great success throughout the 1970s – their first three albums\, ‘Bad Company’ (1974)\, ‘Straight Shooter’ (1975) and ‘Run with the Pack’ (1976)\, reached the top five in the album charts in both the UK and the US. Many of their songs remain staples of classic rock radio. For seven years Robert Hart was their lead singer. He has also played many years with The Jones Gang with Kenny Jones of The Faces\, and currently with Manfred Mann’s Earthband. Dave ‘Bucket’ Colwell\, guitarist\, spent 12 years in Bad Co\, was a member of Humble Pie for several years recording\, co-writing and producing the album Back on Track\, The Jones Gang\, ASAP and many other bands.\nHart’s powerful vocals and Colwell’s authentic guitar riffs recreate the timeless\, undeniable classics that Bad Company fans demand. The pair are joined by Pat Davey on bass (Paul Young and Cregan & Co)\, John Lingwood (Manfred Mann’s Earthband) and Roger Chapman\, on drums.\n\nFans can expect many of the classic songs spanning Bad Company’s repertoire; ‘Ready for Love’\, ‘Can’t Get Enough’\, ‘Rock and Roll Fantasy’\, the list goes on. It promises to be a night to remember!

SUMMARY:Three On A String In Concert
DESCRIPTION:Three on a String recently celebrated 52 years in the entertainment business\, a remarkable feat in today’s fast changing society.\nJerry and Bobby performed as a duo for one show at Horse Pens 40 near Steel\, AL in 1971. Eventually they added a bass and Three on a String was born. Some personel changes and lots of one-nighters eventually evolved into performances with symphony orchestras in several states including a nine city tour with the Alabama Symphony\, opening for Bill Cosby\, Red Skelton\, Barbara Mandrel\, Jeff Foxworthy\, George Lindsey\, Ray Stevens and many more top stars. Add in concerts for art councils\, Chambers of Commerce\, Landmark Theatres and city celebrations and you have a busy schedule for these veteran entertainers.\nJerry Ryan left a career as a teacher\, coach\, and high school principal to pursue the performing dream\, as a guitar player\, vocalist\, and harmonica player and never looked back. “There is no feeling in the world like presenting our show to an audience that has no idea who we are and having the show close with a standing ovation\,” says Jerry.\nBobby Horton started taking trumpet lessons as a child and eventually became proficient at more than 20 instruments including the banjo\, dobro\, mandolin\, guitar\, violin/fiddle\, and the Irish pipes. He has worked with PBS producer Ken Burns on at least ten documentaries including “The Civil War”\, “Lewis and Clark” and “Baseball” and is in constant demand for his musical presentation of Civil War music on the college lecture circuit. But he still finds time to tour with Three on a String.\nBrad watched Jerry and Bobby learn their way around the music business before becoming the regular bass player and eventually added fiddle\, guitar\, and an occasional piano to the shows. Brad has done many commercial music projects including writing and performing for the now famous Rick and Bubba Theme Song. Brad also moonlights as Worship Leader at Springville Methodist Church.\nFormer member Andy Meginniss fits back in seamlessly after many years adding his unique talents to the already stellar show! Andy performed for years with Clair Lynch and has performed at the Grand ‘Ol Opry. Andy also moonlights as Music Leader at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and fills in with several bands in the Birmingham area.\n“Four” entertaining guys make up Three on a String. They even have a bit for that… “We are to the age with it takes 4 to make 3. But good\, clean\, fun entertainment is what we want to offer.” As they put it\, “we want people to feel better when they leave our show.”

SUMMARY:Etta May: Still Kickin'
DESCRIPTION:Etta May has performed her brand of clean-comedy on Oprah\, Showtime\, Comic Strip Live\, MTV\, and as a guest commentator on “CBS Sunday Morning\,” Winner of the prestigious American Comedy Awards “Female Comic Of The Year\,” and so much more.  In addition to television\, Etta May is a regular on Sirius-XM Comedy Channels and the syndicated Bob & Tom radio show.\n\n\nBorn and raised in Bald Knob\, Arkansas\, Etta May grew up alongside nine older brothers\, who referred to their baby sister as “the human sacrifice.” Etta May’s parents – her father\, a potpourri farmer\, and her mother\, bedridden by constant childbearing – didn’t realize she was a girl until she needed a training bra. \nShe met her husband\, Delbert\, an aspiring truck driver\, at a friend’s kegger. From across the yard\, their eyes locked in a loving look\, you know that stare that lasts a moment too long. Nine months later\, she was blessed with a boy\, and three more kids followed. “That’s where my comedy comes from. I just wait for my husband or kids to do something stupid\, and then I write it down.” \nBefore finding success as a stand-up comic\, Etta wandered from dead-end job to dead-end job\, including a 10-year stint as a school bus driver. She says she learned how to handle unruly kids by Armor-Alling the seats and slamming on the brakes all the way to school. Her theory: “Kind of hard to pick a fight with the kid in front of you when you’re just holding on for dear life.” \nThen she decided to take a chance on herself and follow her dream. Lots of hard work and drive\, and a few years later\, she wins “Female Comic Of The Year” at the American Comedy Awards. It’s the American Story we are all told\, that you can become anything you set your mind to in this great country\, and for Etta May\, it worked!

SUMMARY:Gladys Knight
DESCRIPTION:The great ones endure\, and Gladys Knight has long been one of the greatest. Very few singers over the last sixty years have matched her unassailable artistry. This seven-time GRAMMY Award winner has enjoyed #1 hits in Pop\, Gospel\, R&B\, and Adult Contemporary\, and has triumphed in film\, television\, and live performance.\n\nAll told\, Knight has recorded more than 38 albums over the years\, including four solo albums: “Good Woman” (1991); “Just for You” (1994); the inspirational “Many Different Roads” (1999); and “At Last” (2001).  “At Last” showed the world that she still has what it takes to record a hit album\, employing the talents of contemporary producers like Randy Jackson.\n\nKnight has continued to spread her acting wings\, making a guest star appearance in the FOX hit show “Star” and appearing in the film “Almost Christmas” in 2016\, both which were produced and directed by Lee Daniels.  She appeared on ABC’s 14th season of “Dancing With The Stars” in 2012. In 2019\, she competed on the inaugural season of “The Masked Singer” and sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta.  Knight sang the National Anthem on yet another major sports stage at the 2021 NBA All-Star Game. This past 2022 holiday season she starred in “I’m Glad It’s Christmas” on Great American Family and received the 45th Kennedy Center Honors for Lifetime Artistic Achievements along with George Clooney\, Amy Grant\, Tania Leone and U2 in December.  In addition\, this past March she received the National Medal of Arts along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus\, Bruce Springsteen\, Jose Feliciano and Mindy Kaling.  This year she will be honored as a 2024 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree.\n\nHer involvement in other creative undertakings\, business ventures and humanitarian activities has been extensive\, and has brought her honors from industry and community alike. In 2015\, A portion of Atlanta’s State Route 9 from Peachtree Street to 14th Street was officially named Gladys Knight Highway.\n\n\nSponsored by Get Off The Bus tours

SUMMARY:Messiah
DESCRIPTION:Based in Florida’s friendliest hometown\, “The Villages Philharmonic” is a professional Orchestra presenting the highest possible standard for excellence in musical performance since 2003. \nUnder the musical direction of acclaimed Conductor Pasquale Valerio\, the orchestra has grown in stature while enriching and shaping cultural life. The orchestra presents musical masterpieces to nourish the hearts\, souls and minds of local music patrons. \nMost members live in the Orlando area but we have regular members who come from as far afield as Jacksonville\, Tampa\, Daytona and St. Petersburg. The Philharmonic gives 13-15 concerts per year and so we don’t provide full time employment for any of the players. Our players are comprised of resident and international artists who collaborate with symphonic and operatic companies at large. Although most orchestra members are not Villagers\, there are two professional orchestra members who are Village residents and there are six amateurs who train each Saturday so that they can meet the standards required to play with the Philharmonic.
